At Lowcountry Prep, we believe athletics are an essential part of a well-rounded student experience. Beginning in 6th grade, students are invited to pursue their passion for sport—or discover a new one—as they represent the Marlins with pride. For many, this is their first opportunity to wear a school uniform, compete with teammates, and experience the joy and challenge of interscholastic athletics.
At the middle school level, the emphasis is on participation, skill development, and sportsmanship. Students have the chance to try multiple sports while learning from coaches who prioritize growth, effort, and teamwork. Practices and competitions typically occur three days a week, offering a healthy balance with academics and other school commitments.
When interest and enrollment numbers allow, Lowcountry Prep is proud to offer junior varsity opportunities. While JV teams are often composed of freshmen and sophomores, we welcome advanced 7th and 8th grade athletes to participate when appropriate. Our goal is to say “yes” whenever we can create opportunities for students to grow through sport.
Varsity athletics at LPS, again when interest and numbers allow, are competitive by design, with a focus on excellence and achievement. Our varsity teams aim to contend for regional and state titles, all while modeling leadership, character, and school spirit. Whether competing on the court, field, or track, Marlin athletes are expected to embody integrity, discipline, and respect—for their teammates, their opponents, and the game itself.
Lowcountry Preparatory School is a part of the South Carolina Independent School Association athletic program and also competes against other independent schools across the region.
