Something Different for Joomla!

Welcome to the Lowcountry Preparatory School website.  If this is your first visit to our site I am certain you will find a wealth of information about our school and community.  However, no website can replace a visit to campus and I hope you will feel free to contact our admissions office to arrange to have a tour of our wonderful campus on Blue Stem Drive.  We also hope our current students and parents, as well as our alumni and friends of the school will use our website to stay abreast of homework and events at school, and as a tool to stay connected to our community.

Plato wrote: “The direction in which education starts a person will determine his future life.”  As an educator, I have made this statement my credo. At Lowcountry, we are committed to the education of the whole person.  We believe that students will achieve his/her highest potential through an education that not only encompasses rigorous academics, but one that also fosters moral, spiritual and physical development. Students must have the skills required to be independent, critical thinkers and to learn to be understanding and tolerant of different points of view. They must learn how to become productive in today’s diverse community, to understand the value of cooperation, and to obtain the skills necessary to be competent in a global society.

Education must foster a partnership among the community, parents, students and educators. It is our shared responsibility to prepare lifelong learners, who will become self-disciplined, creative, and confident individuals. We build the foundations for integrity and a positive attitude while empowering students to achieve academic success.  In our small, family oriented community, we look at every student as an individual, eager to gain knowledge and to be successful.  All children have talents and schools hold the responsibility for creating an atmosphere where they can excel.

At Lowcountry Prep we create an educational environment in which questions are asked, answers are challenged, and where challenge becomes the driving force for a deeper understanding of ourselves and of our peers.  By placing a high value on a holistic approach to education, all aspects of the student’s life, from the intellectual to the social to the spiritual, are impacted and our teachers are committed to discerning and fostering the development of the artist, the athlete, the philosopher, and the scholar in each student.

In our unique school students and educators both benefit from the repeated interchange of question and response, introspection and resolution, risk and reward, and interaction beyond the classroom. This approach, and the tools it provides, produces well-educated young people who possess a sense of confidence and self worth.  It also provides me with the satisfaction that I have helped to prepare a young person for success in college and in life beyond formal academics.

Sincerely,
Jonathan K. Alden
